Deacons Ministry
The word deacon comes from the Greek word diakonos, which means "servant." The New Testament frequently mentions deacons, and Acts 6 suggests that the first deacons were appointed to serve the church's physical needs so that pastors could focus on spiritual needs.
At Third Baptist, among other roles, the Deacons Ministry manages three main programs, and we welcome those interested in supporting this work:
New Members: The ministry takes the lead in new member orientation and follow-up, ensuring that new members are well-informed, warmly welcomed, and actively engaged in our church community.
Benevolence: The ministry administers a fund to help members who are in short-term financial duress.
Family Ministry: Each Deacon is responsible for ongoing calls, visits, and prayer for all members to ensure wellness and connectedness to the church body.
Led by Reginald Chatman.
