Palm Sunday Concert
Join us this Palm Sunday, April 13, for an unforgettable evening of worship, music, and soul-stirring inspiration at the “And They Sang a Hymn” concert. Under the direction of Rev. Sid Smith III, this powerful musical celebration will uplift your spirit with classic hymns and gospel arrangements, featuring beloved selections like Never Alone, He Lives, and The Solid Rock, brought to life by dynamic vocalists, live musicians, and passionate narration. Good Friday Vesper Service
Join us this Good Friday, April 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM for a powerful Vesper Service at Third Baptist Church in San Francisco. Through the theme “Seven Objects of the Crucifixion,” we will reflect on Christ’s final hours and the sacred symbols that marked His sacrifice. The ministers and diaconate of Third Baptist Church will offer powerful meditations on Christ’s suffering, bearing witness to the pain and promise of the cross. This experience will be elevated by the musical genius of PHER, Kevin Moore, and Rev. Sid Smith III, whose artistry will guide us deeper into the mystery of this holy night. Come be renewed through worship, Word, and community as we journey together toward the hope of resurrection. All are welcome—come as you are and experience this sacred moment with your church family.
Film Screening: 100 Years From Mississippi
You are invited to a special film screening of 100 Years From Mississippi at Third Baptist Church on Friday, April 25. This powerful documentary tells the story of Mamie Lang Kirkland, a woman who bore witness to the brutal realities of racial terror in America. At a time when many seek to forget or rewrite history, her story stands as a testimony to truth, resilience, and the ongoing need for justice.
Bon Appétit - Men Who Cook
Please join us for Bon Appetit - Men Who Cook on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Third Baptist Church Nelson Fellowship Hall. Tickets are $45. See any Deacon for tickets. Organ Service
This jubilant service will be in the tradition of the African-American church experience. This service will be eclectic in nature featuring the use of the organ in the rich tradition of music in the Black church from Classical to Gospel music.
Rev. Brown Portrait Unveiling
Many thanks to all of you who contributed to the oil painting portrait of Pastor Brown. Pastor Brown, our 17th Pastor, has served longer than any of his sixteen predecessors. He has, without question, earned his place among the portraits currently placed in Nelson Hall. We are pleased to unveil his portrait in Nelson Fellowship Hall in a brief ceremony.
His portrait was painted by Dwayne Mitchell, an African American artist, of D’art Portraits, Atlanta, GA. Mr. Mitchell’s paintings can be found in Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, Soka Gakkai International in Japan, as well as the Tennessee Hamilton County Courthouse, Emory Hospital, Hartsfield Jackson Airport, and in the private homes of many individuals throughout the East Coast.
Dr. Brown’s 80th Birthday Celebration
This year Rev. Dr. Amos C. Brown celebrated his 80th birthday. But, due to the pandemic TBC celebrated virtually. No less, it was a fun-filled amazing tribute from family members, church members, colleagues and long-time friends from around the globe. Thanks to Rev. Brown's daughter Kizzie, who worked to organize everyone who sent their birthday wishes, "virtually", we have downloaded all (3) videos below.
